#inthistogether with Natan Sharansky

Meet a Jewish Hero

Don’t let social distancing stop you from having fun while learning something new!  Join a global interactive class with the former Soviet prisoner of Zion, Israeli politician, human rights activist and author, Natan Sharansky.

Learn about the story of Soviet Jewry and Sharansky’s personal journey from 9 years in the Siberian Gulag, where he spent over 400 days in solitary confinement, to his release to a new life in Israel.

Join Unpacked for this class which will also feature a global Kahoot. There’s never been a better time to learn together.

#inthistogether will be streaming live on Zoom and on our YouTube channel.

Natan Sharansky was born in Donetsk, Ukraine in 1948. He was a spokesman for the human rights movement and a leader in the struggle for the right of Soviet Jews to immigrate to Israel. Sharansky was imprisoned in a Soviet Gulag for nine years after requesting permission to make aliya and was released following a massive global campaign by world Jewry and international leaders.

He made aliya on the day of his release and became a politician and leader in Israel. The author of three books, Sharansky remains a champion of the right of all people to live in freedom and believes advancing human rights is critical to world peace and security.

Young Judaea Social Action Day

Calling all YJ teens! Join Young Judaea in partnership with Repair the World and Amplifier Giving for a conversation about food insecurity and participate in a giving circle. This program is open to grades 8-12.

Giving circles are a simple but powerful way to bring people together to give. They provide anyone, at any giving level, in any place, giving to causes important to the group.  Giving circles are a way share and leverage the group’s money, skills and creativity. We are excited to create a giving circle with Young Judaea teens as part of Young Judaea’s Social Action Day.

In order for our giving circle to have a maximum impact, we are asking each participating teen to consider contributing $18 to be distributed to a charity that the group will collectively select.  Of course anyone can participate regardless of the size of the gift.  You can contribute to the giving circle HERE.
