MACCABIAH WAS INCREDIBLE!!!! I honestly cannot say enough to someone to make them understand – the opening night ceremony was indescribable. Seeing a group of 40 kids become so close was all I could’ve asked for. After spending five incredible weeks together, we are all best friends and love each other like CRAZY!

Maccabiah was the pinnacle of the summer, without a doubt. One of the great things about it was the magnitude of the experience. The sheer number of participants was unmatched by any other event of the summer. Maccabiah was a nonstop emotional roller coaster. The teams were cheering, jumping, dancing, singing, or competing at sports at every moment. Winning along with a British team, we bonded with that group and even swapped t-shirts! Hugging and congratulating the other winning team was an awesome display of sportsmanship.
Special Interest Week
During Special Interest Week, you leave your original group and spend the week with others who have also chosen your interest week option.
Totaling 50 miles, the sea-to- sea hike is no stroll around the block. Learn the geography, history and topography of Israel’s northern landscape while hiking from the Mediterranean to the Sea of Galilee. After days of incredible hiking, spend nights cooking out and camping under the starry skies on the shores of the Sea of Galilee.
Congratulations—you’ve enlisted! A week of Gadna (army training) offers you a unique opportunity to experience the Israel Defence Forces while living on an army base. If you can make it through intensive basic training, a pulse-raising physical course and army drills, there’s nothing you can’t do.
Volunteer and make a difference in an Israeli community that needs your help. Get a chance to work with both young and old, new immigrants, or animals. Spend a week immersing yourself in Israeli life and learn how to bring social action to your home community
Boker tov (good morning)! You’ll become a part of kibbutz life while visiting other kibbutzim. Wake up at sunrise to work in the fields, or cook for ten times the number of people who attended your family’s last Passover seder. Gain a genuine understanding of kibbutz life. In between “chores,” relax and enjoy this unique Israeli lifestyle.
Special Interest Week options are subject to change and placement in your first choice is not guaranteed.
Get ready for the greatest beach extravaganza! During Maccabiah you will compete and perform, cheer and sing, dance and show that team pride with all our groups and our sister movement FZY. Jam packed with events, this two day blast will see you bonding and sleeping out under the stars! Are you ready?
What is Maccabiah? Maccabiah is a spectacular, two-day festival on the beaches of the Sea of Galilee. During Maccabiah, all our groups, including those from the Federation of Zionist Youth, our sister movement in Great Britain, come together for games, competitions, performances and fireworks. It’s one giant beach party at the beginning of August! Paint your face, scream as loud as you can because it’s Maccabiah. You’ll battle more than 20 other groups in volleyball, soccer, tug-of- war, and other events while cheering on your teammates with all of your energy. When you’re not in competition, you’ll have a blast spending time with participants from every group at the disco, on the beach, and camping out under the stars!
