Leadership Training Seminar Kit

The peulot attached are a compilation of activities run for the Hadracha program at Camp Tel Yehudah from 2002-2011, as well as activities that have been used for training for successive national mazkiriot since 2008. Many of them have been run multiple times with a high level of success. However it should also be noted that most of these peulot have been written and run by camp tsevet, who range from 19-25 years old. Therefore some of the material can be heavy and not easily run without serious preparation.

Please use any of the included peulot or let me know if you would like to receive leadership training peulot that cover other topics or would like to think of an alternative implementation for any of the included activities. If you have any questions, comments or anything, please be in touch with me directly at afretwell@youngjudaea.org or call me at (212) 303-8283.

Israel Basics Kit

Spring time is busy for everyone, even for us in Young Judaea!  Between Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Memorial Day), to Yom HaZikaron (Israel's Memorial Day), and Yom Ha'atzmaut (Israel's Independence Day) we take ourselves through the full spectrum of emotions - from grief to joy.

In this kit, you will find activities that can be run for kids of all ages about anti-Semitism and the Holocaust, fun activities about Israeli culture and the geography of Eretz Yisrael (the Land of Israel).   We have also compiled lists of recommended movies, books, and news sites for you to benefit to stay in tune with Israel's past, present and future.

There are also suggested ways to support some of Israel's most important causes today including environmental, humanitarian, medical, and political challenges the country faces.

Enjoy!

Purim

Purim is one of the most joyous days on the Jewish calendar. Jews around the world dress in costume, send gift baskets, bake special cookies called Hamantaschen and party like it’s the 70’s (5770’s that is). We do this all to remember how we have survived attempts at our annihilation and read from the Book of Esther the most well known biblical instance in which we outwitted our would be executioner.

Download the YJ Purim Kit to bring the YJ spirit to your community on Purim this year!

In it you will find:

  • A summary of the Purim Story
  • Special insights in the story of Purim and how it relates to gender equality today

We are instructed to remember and tell the story of the freedom we gained through our miraculous exit from Egypt thousands of years ago. Passover Seders (the festive meal to begin the holiday) is the most widely practiced Jewish ritual of Jews around the world.
