During second session at Camp Tel Yehudah this summer, add Alternative Summer Break (ASB) to your experience and make a real impact. Immerse yourself in intensive, hands-on community service, leadership development and experiential Jewish learning that is enriching, transformative and fun.

If you are a rising 10th-12th grader, dedicated to Tikkun Olam (repairing the world) and ready to get your hands dirty, join us for a summer of volunteering in upstate New York and New York City. You will:

  • Build community and leadership skills

  • Volunteer daily at a variety of locations in the local community

  • Reflect on your work and impact on a daily basis

  • Earn a minimum of 60 certified community service hours

  • Experience social responsibility (achrayut chevratit), social action (Tikkun Olam), and social justice (tzedek)

  • Leave with a deeper commitment toward service that will springboard into lifelong active citizenship

  • Live at and take part in camp social life with other Jewish teens from around the US and the world

HOW CAN YOU MAKE AN IMPACT? Here’s some of the volunteer work previous ASB participants have done:

  • Delaware River cleanup in kayaks with U.S. National Park Service

  • Trail maintenance and blazing or building of bridges and walls at a local State Park

  • Door-to-door canvassing through neighborhoods to inform elderly residents about local programs and incentives

  • Planning day-long activities and programs for underprivileged children in New York City

  • Sorting and distributing food to families in need at a local food shelter

  • Working and gardening at a local farm/garden and providing affordable, healthy food to nearby residents in need

  • Collecting, organizing, and distributing school supplies to impoverished families in New York City through Operation Backpack

Register today and get ready to make a huge difference this summer!
