Dear future Year Coursers and Year Course families,

Welcome to Young Judaea Year Course, the original gap year program in Israel.  Since 1956 thousands of young adults have participated in this pivotal year of growth and exploration – including me!  I was a participant on Year Course in 1990-91 and that year of friendships, learning, language and culture shaped my relationship to Israel, Judaism, and Social Action for the rest of my life.

Our mission at Year Course is to positively affect young lives while inspiring our participants to become informed Zionists, confident Jews, caring citizens of the world and the next generation of leaders for Jewish communities around the world.  Whether Year Course is your first, or one of countless experiences with Young Judaea, these 9 months are packed with opportunities for engagement, exploration, adventure and understanding.

Discover a side of Israel you have not seen before, connect with your peers and your history, learn the language and culture and complexity of Israel, all while earning up to a full year of college credit.  Make friends from around the globe, broaden your horizons, discover your Jewish bucket list and figure out what it all means to you.  Volunteer, engage, explore, aim to give back as much as you gain from this experience.

I look forward to meeting the Year Coursers in Israel and welcoming them, and their relatives, into the Young Judaea Year Course family.  Please feel free to be in touch with me and share ways you think we can ensure that this is the most incredible, educational, meaningful and exciting year!

L’hitraot,

Kate Nachman

Director of Year Course
