The Communications Manager will take a lead role in stewarding Young Judaea’s alumni, friends and family network via regular communication, as well as help publicize and expand the reach of all Young Judaea programs and activities, including our Israel programs, year round programing efforts and that of our National Teen Leadership Camp, Tel Yehudah. We seek an entrepreneurial individual to help shape and execute a comprehensive communication plan. A key area of focus will be increasing exposure of Young Judaea and all of its programs through traditional and new media, and managing aspects of communications about national and regional programs for youth, campers, parents, participants and alumni. This position reports directly to our Manager of Development and Alumni Relations, and will liaise with all program departments to ensure communications are most effective.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Create and manage Young Judaea and Tel Yehudah’s strategic communications, including newsletters and other marketing/ social media efforts in partnership with senior staff to ensure goals are met.

  • Develop and curate content for organizations’ online channels (social media, website, blog, newsletters, e-blasts)

  • Drive community marketing efforts and strategies to ensure our programs speak to and reach target audiences as they relate to each program.

  • Monitor benchmarks for marketing and social media programs. Analyze, review and report on effectiveness of campaigns in an effort to maximize results.

  • Produce specific marketing materials for alumni and friends events, and related public relations about the events, as needed.

  • Maintain and update Young Judaea’s and Tel Yehudah’s website on an ongoing basis, tracking analytics as necessary.

  • Coordinate and administer web-based activities including webinars, video of programs, and interviews for use during and after live events.

During the summer months it is expected that the Manager will spend a considerable amount of the work week on site at Camp Tel Yehudah in Barryville, NY, during which time the Manager will supervise the work of an on-site photographer and videographer while ensuring consistent direct communications with parents and other stakeholders.


The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of applicable work experience with demonstrated ability in social media, marketing and public relations; we expect that s/he will possess a professional, resourceful, and innovative style, and have the ability to work with multiple professional partners. We seek a candidate who enjoys working in a small, but fast- paced, congenial work environment and who knows how to manage and prioritize among many different responsibilities and as part of a constantly evolving operation.  S/he should have strong technology skills verbal and written communication skills, exceptional attention to detail, and strong capacity for time-management.

Additional qualifications:

Knowledge of Jewish community/ Jewish youth programming/ Jewish overnight camp is important, as is an understanding of how to leverage communication to drive forward alumni relations/ networks. Experience working with CRM systems such as Salesforce useful; extensive knowledge of all social media platforms, web based marketing (Google AdWords and Facebook Ads), WordPress and e-marketing software packages such as Constant Contact vital to success in this role.
