The Assistant Director of Camp Tel Yehudah will work principally with the Director to translate camp’s mission, vision and values into an engaging, meaningful and organized program implemented by highly qualified and well-trained staff.  The Assistant Director will also oversee all aspects of camp’s communications with its varied constituents including campers, parents, staff, alumni, donors and partner organizations as well as organize and participate in national and international recruitment of campers and staff.  This individual must be a self-starter who can identify opportunities that will strengthen the impact of Tel Yehudah’s program and the long-term growth of camp while serving as an integral member of the Tel Yehudah and Young Judaea leadership. Strong fundamental skills in written and oral communications, leadership, project management, interpersonal relations and supervision are essential to the job.


  • Oversee all aspects of the recruitment, hiring, training, supervision, compensation, well-being, evaluation and retention of camp’s 150+ international staff.

  • Provide supervision and organization of all aspects of camp’s program development and implementation. This includes, but is not limited to:

    • establishment of systems and staff assignments to help fulfill specific program goals (i.e., project management)

    • preparation of summer calendars and daily schedules

    • preparation and implementation of meaningful educational experiences

    • resource inventory, procurement and distribution

    • organization of out-of-camp trips

    • supervision of program team

  • Establish and oversee summer and year round communication protocols and calendar with all constituents including campers, parents, staff, alumni, donors, partner organizations and larger Jewish world. Communications include: website upkeep, electronic newsletters, e-blasts, established and emerging social media channels as well as old-fashioned email, phone calls and physical mail

  • In conjunction with the Director, coordinate the marketing and promotion of camp including organizing and attending presentations and promotional events in cities across the United States, organizing online and offline marketing campaigns and responding to inquiries.

  • Partner with development team to create and drive fundraising campaigns, engage alumni and steward donors.

  • Propose additional programmatic and revenue opportunities for Tel Yehudah; identify staff, time and financial investment necessary to realize these opportunities

The Assistant Director will be supervised by the Director of Camp Tel Yehudah. Along with all Tel Yehudah staff members, the Assistant Director has an overall responsibility for the well-being of all aspects of Camp Tel Yehudah. The position is a full time, year-round position with excellent benefits. The position is available December 1, 2015 and is based in our Manhattan office. This position requires moving to camp for the summer months.
