Position Purpose:
To further the mission of Camp through hosting rental groups at our camp facility and to ensure the success of the retreats held at CYJ. The Event Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating with rental group leaders throughout their stay and communicating with year round camp employees.

Reports to:  Operations of Director, Director of Sales and Costumer Success

Essential Job Functions:

  • Coordinate with camp employees to create a successful experience for rental groups

    • Report to the Sales and Marketing Manager on a regular basis to understand rental group needs

    • Coordinate with Maintenance Director and camp-based staff to resolve issues at the facility

    • Coordinate with the Chef and kitchen staff to ensure meals, menus and special requests are all handled in an appropriate and timely manner

    • Coordinate with the Housekeeping staff to ensure all facilities are properly cleaned and prepared for the groups

  • Communicate with each rental group leader and ensure the needs of their event are met

    • Accommodate the specific needs of each rental group

    • Provide great customer service. Maintain an approachable and friendly demeanor and ensure all members of the group are enjoying their stay and that the group leader is satisfied will all aspects of their experience.

    • Enforce the rules and policies of the camp to ensure the group’s safety

  • Prepare the camp facility for rental group usage

    • Check that all facilities are in good working condition and/or work with appropriate camp employees to ensure the facility is in working condition

    • Set up the facility for the specific needs of each group

Qualifications:

  • College graduate

  • Lives near or is willing to relocate to a location near Camp (Austin/San Marcos/Wimberley included)

  • Background in Camping, hotel/restaurant management and customer service

  • Ability to lift at least 50lbs. and move equipment around camp.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Desire and ability to work with children and adults in a camp setting

  • Knowledge and experience in the areas of administration, public relations, marketing, customer service and recruitment

  • Non smoker

Working Conditions

  • Salary: $25,000-$30,000 plus full benefit package

  • Average of 50 hours per week

  • Works an average of 3 nights/4 days each week (mostly Thursday – Sunday) and staying on site

  • Retreat season – lives near camp (Austin/San Marcos/Wimberley area)

  • Summer Camp – may be required to live and work at camp (from mid-May through mid-August)
